In an odd moment during last weeks ongoing Deepwater Horizon hearing, a representative of the Marshall Islands, the flag state for the drilling vessel, took to the lawyers’ podium at a federal investigative hearing and admitted that a “clerical error” had caused the administration used by the small Pacific island country to mischaracterize the rig in documents.
