IHC Merwede has successfully launched Subsea 7′s 550 t pipelaying vessel, Seven Waves, at its shipyard in Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The ship will be used in the develoment of Brazilian deepwater oilfieldson behalf of Petrobras.

Docking at the Chennai harbour for less than a week before embarking on its next voyage to the Central Indian Ocean Basin, Oceanographic Research Vessel, Sagar Nidhi is the pride of the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai. Commissioned for research in 2008, Sagar Nidhi helps NIOT in technology demonstration work on deep-sea mining and tsunami studies.

AHTS DELIVERED

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has delivered a 120T Bollard pull Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS), “SCI URJA”, bearing Hull No. BY-80, to The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd, Mumbai (SCI). This is the last in a series of 4 Nos of 120T Bollard pull AHTS’ being built by CSL for SCI.

A REAL GREATSHIP

 

Greatship Global Offshore Services, a subsidiary of Greatship (India) Limited (GIL), accepted delivery in January of newbuild PSV/ROVSV “Greatship Ragini” from Colombo Dockyard in Sri Lanka. This is the last vessel of a series of three equivalent units that Colombo was building for Greatship.

BONGO BANGED OUT

Remontowa Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, has delivered newbuild PSV Bongo to Edison Chouest. Designed by MMC Ship & Design Consulting, the vessel has a deck area of 1,050m² and a deck load capacity of nearly 3,000 tons.

Damen Shipyards Galati in Romania has launched “World Diamond”, the first in a series of six DP2 PSVs it is building for Norwegian shipowner World Wide Supply. Final delivery is expected in second quarter 2013.

SHUTTLE TANKER ORDER

Knutsen NYK Offshore Tankers AS, or KNOT, has delivered “Carmen Knutsen”, a new  157,000 deadweight tonnage, or DWT, offshore shuttle tanker built by Hyundai  Heavy Industries, to Repsol SA, a Spanish oil and gas company, under  time-charter contract for five years plus an option for crude oil transport off Brazil.
