During the last days, the sun emitted  three massive solar flares, as NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory has observed. The solar activity can affect the availability of Global Navigation Satellite Systems and therefore maritime navigation.

The International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) has just published “Guidance on RADius Relative Positioning System”(IMCA M 224) describing the RADius microwave radar system.
